Health Science II course offers the student the chance to earn a certification in Certified Nursing Assistant and Dementia Care. Internships are completed in health care facilities and health care agencies throughout Tippecanoe County.
Clinical rotation is an exciting opportunity associated with the class with the student spending second semester in various health care settings obtaining the necessary training for state certification.
Students receive a solid foundation for a wide variety of careers in the health car field while earning a state certification. Some students enter the workforce immediately due to certifications earned, while others may choose to pursue a 2 or 4 year degree after graduation.

Health Science II prepares the students desiring to work as nursing assistants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for providing basic care in extended care facilities, hospitals and home health agencies under the direction of licensed nursing staff. The course presents information on the health care system and employment opportunities at a variety of entry level positions while including overview of health care delivery system, legal and ethical considerations. Individuals who complete this course are eligible to apply and take the Indiana State Department of Health certification exam of nursing assistants.
Class will consist of lecture, textbook, online and lab assignments, along with clinical rotations beginning second semester.
