The typical student is one who enjoys creative activities and hands-on learning. Most students qualify for dual credits by passing the college placement tests. Successful students have the patience and attention to detail that are necessary to solve problems, and they can work independently or with other students. They understand time management as it relates to salon operations and accruing the hours needed for licensure. Successful students are able to stay on task without constant supervision.
Upon completing this program and passing the state examination, students will be licensed and prepared to be employed in a salon. Students may also pursue 2- and 4-year postsecondary degrees in business, fashion design, or related fields and work their way through college.
